Pirates 6, Giants 5: Keller's short start overcome

Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run home run to break a seventh-inning tie and the Pirates held on to secure a 6-5 win over the Giants tonight at Oracle Park.
McCutchen's homer, which was part of a nine-hit effort by the Pirates, pushed them to their sixth win in their last seven games. NickGonzales also homered in the first inning, while Isiah Kiner-Falefa contributed with a two-run double and TommyPham added an RBI single in the second.
Mitch Keller lasted a season-low two innings, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks. He threw 73 pitches in his shortest outing since Aug. 16, 2022 when he also lasted two innings against the Red Sox. Genesis Cabrera, Yohan Ramirez, Isaac Mattson, Dennis Santana and DavidBednar combined to allow two runs over seven innings in relief.
"That was a gritty win, great win," DonKelly said. "Just battling, getting ahead early and them tying it up, Cutch comes up with a big home run. The bullpen was unbelievable coming in and filling seven innings. Did a great job on a lot of levels."
